This course is designed for counselors seeking to enhance their understanding of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and its implementation. Participants will learn about various funding sources available, the essential components of a successful state-approved CTE program, and the numerous benefits these programs offer to students. Additionally, the course will cover creative strategies for recruiting and identifying qualified CTE teachers among current staff.
In this course, you will:
Define Career and Technical Education (CTE), explain its importance, and describe Michigan’s vision for high-quality CTE programs.
Outline key historical milestones and legislation that have shaped CTE, and explain the organizational structure and roles within CTE administration.
Explain the funding mechanisms for CTE, including state and federal sources, and identify additional funding opportunities.
Describe the key components of successful CTE programs, outline the process for establishing new programs, and develop strategies for recruiting qualified CTE teachers.
